| Students engaged in service-learning projects demonstrate their mastery of the curriculum connections by producing an academic product. The academic component can be accomplished in many different ways and involve multiple steps.
For example, students might maintain a journal throughout the project and write a final paper. They might collect water or soil samples, document their results and submit their findings to a local action group. A class might prepare a book of poetry or produce a play.
Academic products are evaluated by teachers as part of the students classwork.
